Splatoon 3 will add some color to your life on September 9

Splatoon 3 – the obvious third inkling in Nintendo’s Splatoon series – is making its way to the Switch this fall. By supplying us with a colorful trailer, Nintendo paints a pretty picture of what to expect, starting September 9. Do you ‘ink’ you can handle it?

Three minutes of splat-tastic 4-v-4 Turf War gameplay, that’s what you’re about to witness. According to Nintendo, multiplayer has been brushed up to be even better than before. More weapons, more environments (mixed with familiar ones)… it’s gonna be a blast. If you really don’t have the ‘paintest’ idea and are new to Splatoon, you’re going to be in for a treat.

Do you get it now? If the answer is still no, this is pretty much the gist:

Think of Splatoon 3 as home improvement with a competition element. You – a customizable inkling – have to make sure that you paint the majority of an area in your color. That’s done by shooting paint in every direction imaginable. Others will try to do the same, but you can put a sock in that by blasting them, too. But that can go both ways, obviously. If the area is predominantly covered in your paint color when the clock runs out, you win. EZPZ.

Now, this is first and foremost a multiplayer experience. But it doesn’t necessarily have to be. The previous Splatoon games had some form of single-player campaign. And luckily for all you friendless schmucks out there, Splatoon 3 has one as well. In fact, word goes that Splatoon 3’s single-player will be even more extensive than before.
