PlayStation Plus feels generous next month with Final Fantasy 7 Remake

The folks at PlayStation seem to be in a generous mood. More than once, PlayStation Plus members have vented their disliking when it comes to the freebies thrown at them each month. Most of the games offered are already owned or published in the stone age. But this time around, Sony’s coming up with a fairly recent game: Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

First of all, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 through backwards compatibility. The bad news is that the earlier announced free PS5 upgrade – Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade – will not work on the PlayStation Plus version of the game. So if you want to gaze upon upgraded graphics and take advantage of ultra-fast loading speeds, you’re going to have to cough up the Gil.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake isn’t the only bone Sony tosses their community. The first-person puzzle game Maquette from Annapurna Interactive can also be downloaded to PlayStation 5, free of charge. There’s also Remnant: From the Ashes, which will be playable on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Last but not least, Farpoint is also up for grabs, although you have to own a PlayStation VR to play this one. A VR aim controller is also advised, but it’s not mandatory.

If you’re quick about it, you can still scoop up Control: Ultimate Edition (PS4 & PS5), Concrete Genie (PS4), and Destruction Allstars, which will be available until the 1st of March. Better get to it!
