Gamescom 2022 “geht loss” as an in-person and online event

After two years of COVID-19 dominated online-only versions of Gamescom, the German event sets out to return to its former glory in 2022. With life slowly returning to normal, the Koelnmesse proudly announced that Gamescom 2022 will commence as a hybrid event. Wunderbar!

This effectively means that Gamescom will take place both as an online and an in-person event. The majestic Koelnmesse will once again open its doors for trade visitors, press, and content creators on August 23. One day later, those in possession of an admission ticket are welcome to join.

Just like me, Felix Falk – managing director at GAME – is super stoked for Gamescom 2022. Not only because we’re finally given the green light, but also because the event itself is about to become greener. You know, eco-friendlier and such.

“All Gamescom fans and partners have been waiting for this for two years. Gamescom is finally returning to the Cologne exhibition halls, and thus also the unique festival feeling we had all been missing so much.

“This year we are combining the best of both worlds: our extensive digital program with the incomparable Gamescom experience on-site. In the process, Gamescom is also once again setting new standards in 2022. For example, in matters of sustainability. With our ‘Gamescom goes green’ initiative, we will make Gamescom a special and climate-friendly event together with visitors and exhibitors.

“We thus want to not only be a lighthouse for the many initiatives for environmental protection and climate action in the international games industry, but also a pioneer for international events in general.”

Gamescom 2022 will take place in Cologne starting August 27 until the 28th.
