Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade trailer shows off its shinies

Ooh… look at all them pretty shinies! Final Fantasy 7 Remake already had us impressed with its visuals, but the Intergrade version for the PlayStation 5 steps it up a notch. In the trailer below, Square-Enix is proud to show off the visual improvements made. Even if it’s just lighting and texture upgrades.

So yeah, the differences are mostly quite obvious. Improved lighting really seems to bring out a lot of features, including faces and objects that could like kinda… flat. And those backgrounds, totally on fuego (literally and figuratively speaking). And all of that is available in native 4K.

Then again, you might be fine with the graphics as they were and you don’t really care for 4K resolutions. Maybe you’re looking for a performance boost. Squeenix got you, fam. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade also comes with several optimization modes, including a Performance Mode. Enabling this will make sure a steady 60fps can be sustained. Choosing Graphics Mode is solely for the 4K lovers among us.

A PS5 version wouldn’t be a PS5 version if loading times weren’t cut, so it’s nice to see that’s been taken care of. Also, a Photo Mode has been added to the game, making it possible to take the perfect screenshot of you getting slammed by a huge ass opponent. At least you can show off your failure in style now. Finally, a little bit of content is added in the form of a new Yuffie-centric episode, which gives the game some replay value for the ones that already beat it.

All of this can be acquired free of charge if you own the PS4 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but there is a side note to that. If you downloaded the game with PlayStation Plus, you’re shit out of luck. The free upgrade doesn’t apply to that version. Then again, might be able to dig up a nice discounted PS4 version somewhere. If not, the retail version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade might come at a steep full retail price.
