EA gets poetic with Battlefield tease, hinting at a reveal in June

What rhymes with Soon? Balloon. Baboon. Cocoon. Boom(?). The list goes on and on. Lucky for us, the idiosyncratic Twittering Battlefield team doesn’t keep us guessing endlessly and reveals that June is actually the word they’re hinting at. Yes, guys and gals. A Battlefield reveal was bound to happen at some point, and June seems to be the month EA and DICE are gunning for.

Is this a surprise? Far from it, to be honest. With June being the month in which E3 is being held, a big reveal – such as a new Battlefield – is pretty much inevitable during that month. Plus, the annual EA Play event somewhat ties into E3, so it shouldn’t blow your mind that Battlefield will take center stage that month.

What else shouldn’t be blowing your mind when the new Battlefield gets unveiled? Probably its setting, which has been leaked by numerous sources. After tapping into both World Wars in Battlefield I and Battlefield V, the upcoming title allegedly takes place in a modern-day setting.

Another obvious no-brainer is going to be its scale, which is reportedly going to be massive. Knowing that EA pulled all resources to get the project done, this seems pretty plausible. According to DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson, the next iteration is going to take the franchise to the next level. Yes, this is typical corpo talk, but for now, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. When words like “I can tell you it is a bold step. It has everything we love about Battlefield–and takes all of it to the next level. Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs.” are spoken, who am I to disagree?

So I guess we’ll get briefed in June, confirming or busting everything we believe to know about the new Battlefield. But if all rumors are correct, we’ll be thinking of another word that rhymes with “soon” when the game drops later this year: Room. Which we’re probably going to have to make to get this game installed.
