Uncharted director Amy Hennig stepping into Marvel territory

Amy Hennig – who some of you may know for directing the Uncharted franchise – is dipping her toes into the Marvel pool. Two years after starting up her own studio called Skydance, Hennig couldn’t think of a better partner to hit it off with. What Marvel story we’ll be dealing with, who knows? All we know is that Amy will be backed by a familiar face.

That familiar face is Todd Stashwick, with whom she worked on Star Wars: Project Ragtag. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, you are forgiven. Project Ragtag was one of many games that never made it. In other words, it got canceled.

It was this very Todd that announced the collab with Marvel in the first place. Through a Tweet – because how else do you spread the word – Spookwicky owned up to part of it. Since Todd is the guy that excels in putting pen to paper, he’s taking care of the writing.

With the proverbial cat being out of the bag, Skydance followed with an official statement. It seems like Amy Hennig is particularly happy with the Marvel deal. I mean, just read her statement below. If you think I’m the one writing long sentences, you haven’t read hers yet.

“I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game. The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience. It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love.”

See what I mean? Anyway, good for her. I sincerely hope that Skydance can make a decent Marvel game. One without added XP boosters, even though you promised you wouldn’t. I guess we’ll know in a couple of years.
