New Shredder’s Revenge gameplay has me ‘shredding’ tears

Things used to be a lot better when I was a wee gamer. I didn’t have to worry about pre-ordering, paid DLC, or any of that other stuff that’s considered normal these days. Just order a greasy pizza, power on the NES, and play Turtles. Because while everybody was already talking about getting laid and doing the “smell my finger” thing, I was pushing other buttons. Buttons that turned nobody on, except my sweet home console. God… those were the days. And Dotemu is throwing me right back to lonely “not gettin’ any poon” memory lane with 11 minutes worth of Shredder’s Revenge gameplay.

In case you’re unfamiliar with Shredders Revenge, let me be the one to inform you. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge serves us a modern rework of the classic TMNT arcade vibe. Playing as one of the half-shelled fighting machines (or one of their sidekicks), this sidescrolling beat-’em-up is all about rompin’ and stompin’ the Foot Clan’s ass. You know, as they did in the early ’90s. If your imagination is still failing you, check this fresh 11-minute gameplay trailer. That’ll brighten up your mind.

Now, if you’re familiar with the Turtles, something might have piqued your interest. Because yes, the original voice actors were dragged out of the sewers for Shredder’s Revenge. It won’t get any more authentic than this, dudes and dudettes.

Damn, I can’t wait for this game to hit the digital shelves. A lot may have changed in the last 25 years (like getting laid occasionally. *Thanks, honey*), but my love for the Turtles is unwavering. And to think that Konami is going to dish us remasters of the original TMNT games, too. This is Turtle heaven, my dudes. Cowabunga!
