[BLOG] A year of Instakilled – Out with the old, in with the new

With the year 2021 creeping towards its final hours, one can not help but reminisce. A lot has happened, some of it was nice, some of it absolutely horrendous. The dreaded COVID is still fucking us up on a daily basis and the words ‘delayed’ and ‘canceled’ are pretty much permanently burned into my monitor. But hey, 2021 also brought me some nice developments, Instakilled being one of them.

Now, I don’t want to end the year as one of those sappy people, getting all mushy over all that has happened. But I do want to use this opportunity to thank a few people for keeping this website alive. First and foremost, I’d like to express my gratitude towards every visitor that has given Instakilled a chance. You are the reason that I’m doing this. Sure, I’m fully aware that there’s not a lot of you (yet), but boy do I love you for not giving me the cold shoulder. With an absolute overkill of gaming websites out there, I feel honored that I could work my way into your daily routine. So yeah, thanks, everyone. I wouldn’t be doing this if it weren’t for you.

Second of all, I’d like to say big thanks to my significant other. My tiny hooman Nyssa, who actually told me to go for it when I was having serious doubts. Some of you might know this and some of you might not, but this isn’t my first rodeo. I’ve been hopping from website to website, searching for that one place where I’d feel right at home. Even though the guys and gals at Gamersnet did a terrific job of offering me that cozy place, doing my own thing has always been in the back of my head. And then there was Nyssa, smacking that thought to my frontal lobe. She might be so, so wrong about a lot of things (like Star Trek being superior to Star Wars), but she sure made up for that stupidity by steering me in the right direction. So thanks, my dearest wannabe Hobbit, for that slap.

Lastly, I wanna say ‘thanks bruh’ to Cas Zijlemans for his contributions and his twisted sense of humor. You might not expect it, but running a website – feeding it content on a daily basis – is quite the undertaking. There’s plenty of times where I felt like taking a break from it all, so having somebody like Cas around to give me that breather feels like an absolute godsend.

But as the title says, it’s about that time to give 2021 the ol’ finger, just to say howdy to a new year full of uncertainties. But one thing is certain, Instakilled will go on. I’ll do my best to keep the sarcasm alive and kicking, as long as you will let me. Hell, I might even start making stupid Youtube vids of me making an absolute idiot of myself. I’ll share more info on my channel Bad Influencers as it takes off. Just don’t expect to see exemplary gameplay vids. I didn’t choose the name Instakilled because I’m a total pro, you know?

So yeah, I guess this is it. The end of another weird year. On behalf of myself (and probably Cas), have a great 2022. Don’t be stupid tonight. Make sure to keep all fingers. It’s really hard to game without them. See you on the other side, buddies!
