The future of Assassin’s Creed stays hidden in the shadows

We (and with we, I mostly mean ‘I’) were all hoping for something grand when Ubi announced a special AC live stream, but no. During the Assassin’s Creed 15th Anniversary live stream, every minute seemed to be reserved for Valhalla. Not that Valhalla sucks, but c’mon… was this really worth hyping us up for, Ubisoft?

Here I was, glued to my monitor, hoping to catch the epic announcement of something majestic. And for a moment, hope glimmered. “Wait… she’s saying something about ‘reliving your first Assassin’s Creed memories’. NO…WAY! Is this it?! C’mon lady, you’re killing me here!” Well… good look dying then because we’re going to talk Valhalla DLC.

And don’t get me wrong. I like Valhalla to a certain extent. But god dammit, Ubisoft. Give me something to work with. I’ve been patiently waiting for you to go back to your roots. To a time where you actually cared about a plausible story. You know, when you took time to make sure things were historically correct. Because there once was a time when you scrapped Altaïr’s crossbow because that wasn’t around during that era. But now, RGB unicorn skins for you mount and over-the-top weapons (making you far from discrete) are totally legit. And still, you wonder why OG fans are lashing out at you? Really?!

Alright. Easy, boy… Breathe in, breathe out. I’m sorry. I’ll continue being patient. I mean, what’s another three months, am I right? But really, Ubi, don’t waste my time in September and give me something good. This was hardly worth tuning in for.
