Aliens: Fireteam is all about blasting Xenomorphs as a team sport

“In space, nobody can hear you scream”. Yeah, we kinda regretted that after playing Colonial Marines, the piece of space crap from Gearbox Software. But then again, there are also great Alien games. Take Alien: Isolation for instance. Das good shit. Where Cold Iron Studios‘s Aliens: Fireteam will land later this year, who will tell. Maybe you’ll be able to base your opinion on the shared trailer.

Cold Iron isn’t quite ready to spill all their beans yet, but it does seem to tell us that Aliens: Fireteam will be a co-operative third-person shooter. Being a pack of Colonial Marines, you and your squadmates are pitted against endless waves of Xenomorphs, eagerly awaiting their next meal ticket. You – the player – embody a fresh recruit of the U.S.S. Endeavor, ready to be deployed after a distress call. Now when did that ever turn right, huh?

As you can tell, it doesn’t. Like always, Xenomorphs are a royal pain in the ass and only bullets and hellfire seem to be able to stop them. Showing similarities with survival games like Left 4 Dead, the key to survival is teamwork in Aliens: Fireteam. Because there’s no ‘i’ in ‘fireteam’. Wait… shit, there is. Anyway, you know what I mean.

For now, that seems to be all the info Cold Iron Studios is willing to share. We don’t really have any more news on stuff like the storyline or even an estimated price tag, but I’m sure Cold Iron will disclose those shortly. Aliens: Fireteam is expected to launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S later this year.
