Activision Blizzard faces lawsuit for harboring a bunch of pervs

It turns out that Ubisoft isn’t the only game publisher harboring a bunch of pervs. Activision Blizzard also knows how to keep sleazeballs in office. According to a two-year study, the publisher is guilty of harassing female co-workers into suicide and doesn’t pay them equally in the process. Outrageous, says Activision Blizzard, according to the New York Times

Whether they like it or not, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing is taking them to court over it. The state isn’t really too happy with Activision’s behavior, which at some point even led to a suicide case. One employee took her life on a business trip after nudes got shared among her male colleagues. The fact that female employees get paid way less for the same amount of work, also won’t fly.

Activision Blizzard responded to the charge by claiming that nothing could be further from the truth. Quite frankly, the publisher doesn’t see how any of this can be true. It has been doing everything to keep inequality and inappropriate behavior out. And yes, that suicide technically happened on a business trip, so out it was.

Acti also doesn’t seem too happy with the fact that this suicide got brought up in the first place. It’s inappropriate, and the state could have informed about the other allegations before going to court. At least, that’s what Activision believes.

Top tip for all you publishers out there: make sure employees don’t hit the happy juice on the job. After years of study in the local bar, I’ve concluded this can have a negative effect on people. Stuff like handsy behavior and lewd comments tend to decrease as well when your crew isn’t shitfaced.

And for Pete’s sake, just pay people equally if they’re doing the exact same job. It’s not like ‘honest’ Bobby Kotick hasn’t got the money to do so, am I right?
